The Idea: Practical training
for professional careers

As business in Southern Africa expands, there is a growing need for trained and qualified management personnel. The Students Experience Programme (STEP) is dedicated to preparing young people from SADC countries for their future professional challenges.

The six-month internships with Daimler AG and other companies in Germany give the participants an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and skills and acquire specific competencies for their professional career.

This experience of German business life, knowledge of the German language, insights into the culture and mentality of the host country and personal memories and friendships create the best basis on which to establish future business contacts between Germany and Southern Africa. STEP trainees are highly sought-after employees on their return. Their work experience in Germany increases their chances of finding employment with companies in Southern Africa.
